Before designing or generating ideas, it’s important to first consider what constraints and limitations are present. Doing so allows for more relevant research and refined idea generation. Furthermore specifications relate to what is and what isn't viable to manurfacture as well as how achievable it is with the available materials. In order for concepts and Ideas to be successful they must suffice the following specifications:
Must in some form utilize recycled timber, this is in order to maintain environmental sustainability.
The accessory/protective case must work in accordance with the physical dimensions of the smart device. In this case, the accessory is being designed for the dimensions of an iPhone 5/5s with the dimensions of; 123.8 mm (height), 58.6 mm (width), 7.6mm (depth).
Production (inclusive of operating costs) cost per an accessory/case must be under $50, we are aiming for a production cost of less than $20 per, this is aided by the use of recycled timber.
Designs must fully integrate with the functions and interfaces of the smart device, in other words, it must not interfere with any of the physical features such as; camera, USB/charging, audio, etc.
Production of the design must be achievable given the availability of materials and machinery.
