The following image represents the first variant of the "anti-drop case" which comprises an PLA plastic case border with a bamboo back plate which is held in place by the phones positioned. The strap is angled to allow complete functionality and accessibility of the camera and is run through two slits at the end of the case and held together by two Velcro pieces, one at either end.
The following diagrams display an orthographic projection of the second variant of the "anti-drop case" which attempts to remove the outer plastic border surrounding the bamboo/wooden face-plate (backing). Redesigning the case to remove the (1-2mm) plastic border allows for the face-plate to become flush with the plastic sides of the case (bumper), furthermore it provides a more aesthetically pleasing look and feel to the user. The original design used the force of the phone to hold the face-plate in place, with the changed design the case's plastic farm can be used to lock/force hold the wood plate into position, however in order to do so means a slightly more flexible plastic will be used rather than the previous choice of ABS plastic. In summery, the slight change in design allows the case to be more structurally rigid and provide improved protection to the smartphone, it also cuts down on materials.
